Hi, I’m Lindsay—the heart behind Off the Beaten Path Dog Training.
My journey with animals began long before dog training. I spent my early years immersed in the world of horses, where I first learned the value of communication, trust, and quiet leadership. When dogs found their way into my professional life more than a decade ago, I followed that same instinct: to listen first, connect deeply, and lead with compassion.
Over the years, I’ve completed multiple R+ (positive reinforcement) certification programs and spent countless hours working hands-on in shelter behavior. That experience shaped my understanding of how dogs communicate, what they need to feel safe, and how powerful it is to meet them where they are. I’m still deeply involved in rescue work and am passionate about helping dogs—and the people who love them—navigate the messy, meaningful parts of life together.
Outside of dogs, I’m a mom to two amazing neurodivergent kids who are animal lovers through and through. When we aren't busy fostering litters of puppies or playing with ponies, we love to spend our days outside, camping, gardening, and embracing a slow, urban homestead-inspired life filled with connection, curiosity, and muddy boots.
Whether you’re struggling with behavior challenges, bringing home a new rescue, or raising a wild-hearted puppy, I’m here to help you find your footing. I offer more than training plans—I offer guidance rooted in trust, respect, and the belief that meaningful change happens when we truly understand each other. Together, we’ll build skills, shift patterns, and create a relationship that works for both you and your dog—not just in the short term, but for the long haul.
We take a relationship-first, consent-based approach that emphasizes understanding your dog’s behaviour, not just controlling it. Our methods are rooted in positive reinforcement and nervous system awareness to help build lasting trust and confidence—for both ends of the leash.
Your dog becomes part of our family during their stay. They’ll enjoy a securely fenced yard, personalized care, tailored exercise, and a calm, kid-friendly home environment. We accommodate puppies, seniors, and dogs with special needs—including medication administration.
